One hot poem.

The title of the Kevin Goodan poem I mentioned earlier is “Thinking and Rethinking Stillness.”  Here’s an excerpt, and you tell me, is this not provocative?:

 I remember everywhere each thing humming

and doves rising up.  The humid river.

Peepers omniscient in the ripening trees.  Their song

all day warning of night, the stunning

heartbreak of the ordinary.  Don’t close your eyes

to this, I whisper in the heave

of hips, the light, fingers

 in my mouth. …
